The Great Intersection

I’m very respectful of the past, mindful of the peace in the present, but at the same time … kind of obsessed with the future.  To add to that, a few years ago I took the Gallup’s “Strength Finders” assessment and low and behold one of my top 5 attributes was “Futuristic” with the following description : “You are the kind of person that likes to peer over the horizon”.  Although, I must say this computer generated psychoanalysis of myself resonated and didn’t seem too far off, I tend to see this quality as something more of an insatiable and almost “reckless” desire to spar and wrestle with the chaotic nature of change and disruption.    Let’s sit with that one for a bit, we will dive deeper as this little project goes on.

So who am I?  My name is Abram “Abe” Maldonado, I’m an Technology Director at a large Fortune 200 company, MBA student, family man, technology enthusiast and life-long learner.  I’ve spent my entire 15 years of my career in some form of technology.  I’ve written code with the best engineers, worked side by side with the most brilliant product managers, created amazing and “wildly successful” new features and products, traveled to cool places, led cool people, managed high-performing teams and most importantly have continued to grow, learn and adapt the entire 15 years.  Now, in no way am I in a position of complete authority on any of the subjects I’m going to be writing about on this blog.  However, I’m an active observer, modern day philosopher and a very curious human being.  So because of this “tic” I’ve noticed several themes that have been central to both my professional and personal existence that I want to deepen my knowledge on even further.  So this blog will be a place for me to do that.

Here is what I’m interested in these days and what I call the “great intersection”” of my life.  Hopefully I can distill some of my knowledge and experience into something meaningful and impactful for my readers :

• Technology Impacts on Social Structures and how those impacts are acknowledged but rarely truly understood

• Mainstream Integration of Artificial Intelligence

These are a few of the topics of our time that I will try and postulate on.  Again, these are a few of the topics that interest me the most.  In some cases I have developed an informed opinion, strong position and intermediate-level expertise on the subject matter.  I once read a great quote that went something like this … “to understand a concept is easy, however to master the concept is to be able to write about it”.  Here are my contributions, my reflections and a peek into my consciousness.  This is also for my kids to read one day.  Hope you enjoy.
